Assisting individuals and communities in reducing the harmful effects of alcohol and other drugs by providing quality addictions services.

Provides second stage housing for women coming from abusive situations. We own and manage 22 safe homes and provide a drop-in centre where women can access counselling, support, advocacy, information, referrals and programming. We continue to offer outreach services to women and children who have left our safe housing units.

Increases awareness of HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C in both urban and rural aboriginal communities. We increase accessibility to HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C education and resources and provide educational workshops throughout Saskatchewan. We also provide information about testing and support individuals living with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C along with their families.

A coalition of community stakeholders committed to working collaboratively to eliminate homelessness by gaining a better understanding of homelessness and developing and implementing strategies to end it. Goals:

1. To promote more affordable housing

2. To include homeless people in the work of the Alliance

3. To increase public awareness and understanding through education for different audiences

4. To support, monitor, and advocate for research on the causes of homelessness and effective interventions

5. To promote and support the most effective intervention and prevention strategies

6. To identify, monitor and respond to system-wide changes that have an impact on homelessness

7. To achieve greater recognition from municipal and provincial bodies

8. To strengthen relationships with similar local and national groups.

Provides residential and support services for at-risk youth and their families, with the goal of reintegrating youth back into their communities and (where appropriate) their families.

A temporary shelter for women with or without children who are experiencing abuse in their intimate relationships. We also provide support, food and emergency clothing, advocacy (legal, medical, financial), counselling, and group and individual support.

The Association has purchased 16 supportive housing units for large Aboriginal families. The intent is to provide long-term housing, creating a stable environment. Support services include regular visits and supports by Amisk, as well as links to other community services (drug and alcohol treatment, education or physical or mental abuse counselling), and visits from referring case workers if required.

To provide supportive second stage housing and emergency shelter facilities with day care the premise. Support is provided to help women reintegrate into the community with medical help, life skills training, social services etc.

A spiritually-based daytime drop-in and counselling centre providing support to all in need.

Improving spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health within Toronto’s Aboriginal community within an inter-disciplinary health care model is AHT’s focus. Serving over 8,000 clients annually, the Health Unit offers medical and healing services, including traditional Aboriginal counseling and group activities. Street Patrols (a program profiled on this database) provides outreach and harm reductions responses to Aboriginal and other homeless persons in Toronto.
